Equipment and Asset with Synchronization

Is it necessary to create a new asset class when enabling equipment and asset synchronization per asset class (rather than assigning to an existing asset class)? Are there drawbacks to doing this?

Or should the user just delete the allocation tab (equipment line) when creating a new asset record when they don't want an equipment record created?

How does disposal work? Is it simply an asset module transaction with asset reporting and reference to the equipment number in the asset master record?
