Can we plan in APO for reservations created in ECC

Hi all

We have a APO setup and we use X0 MRP type for materials whose planning would normally be done in APO. Till now we had a scenario, wherein a sales order was raised directly for the APO Material and things are working fine as expected.

We now have a new scenario wherein the same APO material is used in production of a Finished product whose planning is done directly in ECC. The system allows creation of the Process order but when we try release the process order, it gives an error message /SAPAPO/RRP 003 "Order XXXX does not exists".

In this case, we found that though reservation was created for APO material in ECC, the demand was not flowing to APO to create plan orders and route it back to ECC to trigger creation of plan orders.

Not sure if this is standard sap but we need a solution.
